Mental Health Support in the Classroom
After training in behavior strategies and functional analysis for students with problem behavior, this workshop is the final piece of the puzzle, especially when working with children who also exhibit mental health needs. The training includes new content on Relational Frame Theory, ACT, Rule Governed Behavior, Private Events, Delayed Discounting, and Isreal Goldiamond’s work on Non-Linear Assessments of Mental Health Diagnoses and treatment.
The training provides an understanding of Psychological Flexibility and provides resources for both assessment and curriculum development using components of ACT. As Steven Hayes describes, Acceptance and Commitment Training (ACT) is a unique empirically based psychological intervention that uses acceptance and mindfulness strategies, together with commitment and behavior change strategies, to increase psychological flexibility.
